Day 125: By Myself

Yes it is true. I saw The Hunger Games today. Again. By myself.

Say what???

Yes I went to the movie theatre by myself! My friend was supposed to join me but she became ill and ended up in the hospital. Thankfully she is fine now and out of the hospital. But I couldn’t miss my chance to celebrate Team Peeta. At first I felt awkward going by myself but quickly got over it once the movie began. It was just as good as I remembered it and was even better after reading the books.

Now I want to read the books again. I swear I have a life. And a brand new shirt! It is definitely summertime.

Daily Workout

This morning started off right with a sweaty spin class. I also did a lot of walking outside. It is certainly getting hot and humid here in Florida. Yuck.

Yesterday was upper-body so tomorrow will be lower-body lifting. I am psyched! Yes, it is the little things. Love me some lifting.

Day 123: Team Peeta

Today was an awesome day. It wasn’t great for any particular reason but I was just filled with happiness and joy for life. Maybe because the weekend is approaching?

There are so many items on my to-do list this weekend. Most revolve around seeing movies, taking IIN fundamentals classes, and cooking healthy recipes. But mostly I want to be visually stimulated by The Hunger Games (again), The Lucky One (Zac makes great eye candy), and The Avengers (superheroes!). I also need to catch up on all my shows from the week including Girls on HBO. Hilarious show. After all the excitement last weekend I am ready to just chill.

But WOW I am Hunger Games obsessed. All three books were finished by Monday. That’s 4 days people. They were THAT good.

I am also obsessed with Peeta and by default Josh Hutcherson. Who am I? A 12 year old girl?? I don’t know but I am going through all the fan videos and interviews on youtube. I am not ashamed. I am however much more thrilled that I worked out next to Vanessa Hudgens. She dated both Zac Efron and Josh Hutcherson! Mad respect girl. You scored some good ones. But dating an actor must be difficult. A girl can dream though (sorry Peter ;-). This is weird because Josh Hutcherson is only 19 years old. So freaking young! But look at all the muscle he gained to play Peeta!

Hey there…

Where was I going with this? Oh. I also wanted to mention that I am definitely Team Jacob. I even have a Team Jacob shirt. Not even kidding. I think both Peeta and Jacob are the underdogs (Jacob is actually a dog…) and have such pure hearts. That’s a win in my book.

OOOK moving on.

Daily Workout

The day was beautiful. I walked the dog after spin class. Todays class was taught by my favorite Saturday spin instructor. She is so fun and knowledgeable. She thinks I should become a spin instructor. I think I agree.

Ok I’m off to watch more Hunger Games videos on youtube. Did you know that Jennifer Lawrence is absolutely hilarious? Watch some of her interviews. You will be laughing hysterically.

Day 119: A Hungry Weekend

Sorry for the absence. I started and finished both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire this weekend. I was hooked. And so incredibly involved in the Katniss-Peeta-Gale love triangle. Love triangles gets me every time. But unlike the Twilight series, the Hunger Games actually has a likable heroine. Yes Katniss maybe a little wishy washy when it comes to understanding her conflicting love interests, but she is self-sufficient, resourceful, and kick-ass. I mean if I was fighting to the death, I would definitely fall into the arms of the boy with the bread who loves me. Sorry hunky Gale. She is fighting to survive.

So those are my thoughts on The Hunger Games. Obviously there is much more going on than a love triangle. There is the brutal rule of the Capitol, the sadistic use of human sacrifice to exert control, and other fun things but love is what the tweens and Kirsten focus on.

In addition to reading The Hunger Games, I had a busy Saturday that included spin class, Chorus rehearsal, and then Bridget’s house! We had a great time on the lake and playing with this little gal:

I water skied for a bit before my body threatened to break in half. Water skiing is hard! I felt so weak! I now have mad respect for those professional water skiers who do crazy formations and tricks. You have to be in fantastic shape!

After the pain, we switched over to tubing. That was fun until the tube caught some air on a turn and flipped us over. C barely flipped over my head as I face planted into the water then skid around on my back for a bit. Well at least my sinuses were cleared.

We ended the night with a delicious dinner including a quinoa salad and bean enchilada with faux chicken that I prepared. Being a vegetarian is certainly interesting. Of course I made my favorite healthier Reese’s balls and B and C could not stop raving about their deliciousness. After some high school gossip in the hot tub, we cleaned up, I took a spill in the shower (no comment), and we watched Risky Business. That movie is so risque! But Tom Cruise is a cutie. It was a late night but a good one.

I hung out with B and her two snugly dogs for a bit in the morning then headed out.

Sunday was spent doing nothing at all except a quick shopping trip and walk outside with my mom. The rest of the day I was plopped on the couch, too absorbed in my books to even do a quick yoga session like I planned. So Sunday was a full on rest day! My eyes were the only things moving. And you know what? It felt good to rest my sore muscles and get lost in a story.

Now I want to see The Hunger Games movie again.

Obsessed. Team Peeta? Or Team Gale? I think I will read the third book before I decide…

Day 118: What’s on my bookshelf

Whew. I finally finished Fahrenheit 451 and can finally move on to The Hunger Games! I am also delving into the Integrative Nutrition book. Yes, I signed up to be a health coach in a year! Crazy. I am excited to learn!

Equally exciting was my workout this evening.

Workout

I did my Go Hard, Lift Heavy, or Go Home workout again with the same weight. I think I will continue with this same workout on my heavy lower-body days and try to up the weight as the weeks progress. Yay!! Again, those ball roll ups at the very end are killer. Whew!

After the gym I picked up groceries at Publix for an evening cooking extravaganza. Tomorrow I am spending the night at Bridget’s lake house and decided to bring some good and healthy prepared food for dinner! I made my favorite Peanut Butter Chocolate balls, a new-to-me quinoa-avocado-chickpea salad, and some rice and beans to make vegetarian enchiladas tomorrow.

Preparing food is so relaxing. I love it. Unfortunately I didn’t have a real dinner and just snacked like a mad person. Now my stomach is killing me… I think the massive amounts of sweet potato fries and potato salad I consumed will fuel me in spin tomorrow.

Immediately after spin class I have a recording session for Chorus and then it’s lake time! It is supposed to rain tomorrow but hopefully it holds off for a bit! I am craving a good jump in Bridget’s moon bounce. Yes, she owns one! How freaking cool.

Day 97: Sick and Lifting Again

Happy Good Friday! And a good Friday it has been.

No I didn’t go through the Liquor Drive-In. I am actually on antibiotics right now trying to tame a nasty sinus infection. I’ve been hacking up a storm for the last 2 weeks and finally had Peter’s dad (he’s a doctor) check me out. Apparently I have a sinus infection that has been leaking fluid into my lungs. He said that there was a lot of congestion making it difficult to expel. I know. Gross. Breathing is totally fun.

I am now on antibiotics and two types of cough syrup. Maybe when I’m done I can sell the syrup on the black market. Kidding. Hehe.

My office is closed when the market is closed so today was a nice little vacation. Too bad Peter left yesterday or we could have spent the long weekend together. Instead I had a nice long day all to myself and have been taking advantage of me-time.

The day started with… just guess…. a workout!

Workout

I biked to the gym and completed a full-body lifting workout that had me feeling good! My body really misses strength training and I can definitely feel a difference in my clothes, appetite, and mood when I am not lifting weights regularly. Well I am now back on a committed lifting schedule and am so happy to get back into it. I stuck mostly with supersets of opposing muscles groups which is my favorite right now.

In the afternoon I went to the pool which was nice for about an hour. Then I had to leave when this high school girl next to me began smoking while listening to Taylor Swift on her speaker phone. Oh come on. First of all gross. Second of all you do not look cool. This certainly did not help my extreme dislike of high schoolers.

Now I am off to watch The Hunger Games with my sister! I have not read the books (yet) and am so excited to see if the movie meets its hype.
