Day 111: Go Hard, Lift Heavy, or Go Home

Do you know this song by Will.I.Am?

It’s my new gym jam.

And it helped me push through the doldrums this afternoon to complete a fantastic workout.

I biked to the gym for dose of Florida sunshine. However, the forecast is stormy for next several days so I had to deal with cloudy skies and intense humidity. Whew, summer is going to be a hot one.

At the gym I hopped on the treadmill to shake out my legs. At this point I was still tired and unmotivated so I ended up walking for 30 minutes while watching A Cinderella Story on ABC. I am super mature like that.

I was still not feeling energetic for the heavy leg workout I had planned but decided to start my warm-up and just wing it. Once I completed that first set of step-ups to the bench, there was no turning back.

I was lifting heavy or going home!

I felt so strong, so powerful, and kept grabbing heavier weights.

Ever since the holidays my workouts have felt… off. With Christmas, New Years, Peter visiting, and traveling to China, I didn’t have the time to stick to a routine. For the most part, I have been trying to hold onto a basic level of strength.

It’s time to start lifting heavy again. For real this time. My plan is to lift four times a week with two upper body days and two lower body days. One day for each body part will focus on building muscle endurance with lighter weights and higher reps. The other day will focus on building muscle strength and size with heavy weights and lower reps.

Let’s build some muscles!
