We finally arrived in Val Gardena in the Italian Alps.
In a town more Austrian or German than Italian, I feel right at home. Val Gardena reminds me of my beloved Salzburg except with a blanket of snow as the bells make their evening toll. The air is chilly and I feel the need to eat a big German dinner of wiener schnitzel, liver pate, and rye bread. Maybe a pint.
Somebody sneezes and I respond “Gesundheit.”
