Day 5

A day in the town. Searching for open buildings and quiet carpets to make busy again. We stumble upon the old YMCA. Faded orange paint peels from the Spanish facade. My father’s memories of children’s games and dark chlorine pools linger like the stubborn paint, threatening to leave but refusing to stay.

Day 4

A cold blustery day spent inside with socks and hoodies pulled high. A late night run to the grocery store satisfies a craving for fresh tacos. And champagne. What to do to complete this cold wintery night? Ice cream of course. Presto!

Day 3

Winter, here you are. Welcome. We have been waiting for your nice chill all Christmas and all New Years Eve. Now the sweat has been dried and frost comes in quickly. My toes are numb and my ears are burning. Please be kind while I go find a sweater. And socks. And mittens. And fleece….
